There are so many opportunities – and the options are getting more and more each day – of where to spend the nights while traveling. Hotels, private flats or houses via Airbnb or housesitting, camping, guesthouses, apartments and of course – hostels. This post however focuses on the hostels out there around the world and what speaks for and what against staying at a Hostel. In the end it is your own decision, but it is my opinion to at least give everything a try 🙂

Galle and Hikkaduwa are some of the “must sees” when visiting Sri Lanka. At least that’s what you are told in almost every tourist guide. It´s not that I have stayed in Hostels my whole (travel) life but at least during my last travels I did and I have to admit, that these have been my best so far, weather it was in Portugal, New York or Sri Lanka. For all of you who never stayed in a Hostel you will find a general information of what a Hostel is, where to find them, how to book them, what to bring with you and much more here.

Recently I wondered how many days I had spend at home the last year and how many abroad. This is also when I had the idea to give you a complete overview of the entries I wrote this year – my first one! – on traveling.
