Surf Lisbon

I love combining city trips with sporty excursion, as it somehow gives me even more feeling for what else this place has to offer – besides the touristic cultural parts (which I by the way also like a lot!). And YES – you can surf in Lisbon – and when I read, that it takes only a short bus ride to catch some waves I immediately planned one day of our city trip to Lisbon and Porto in April to drive down to Costa da Capricia.  

Exactly at this day, it was our last of this trip in Portugal, it was raining cats and dogs. But this did not stop us. We packed something warm to wear plus a rain jacked and some snacks and water and off we went. Getting to the beach is pretty easy: take the bus 161 from the green metro station Areeiro (watch out, the bus only departs two times per hour, here you find the timetable) and drive until the very last station.
Already before our trip I made the decision to finally buy myself my first own wetsuit and after several closed stores ( I think due to the bad weather) I found my new baby – a 3/2 O´Neill wetsuit:

It still was raining, when I borrowed a board for two hours, but it was worth every cold minute in the water. The feeling while surfing and also afterwards is indescribable and makes me happy instantly! “Learn how to be a shark”, is what my last surf instructor always told me – it is definitely worth every aching muscle!
